Great cookies every timeOct 19, 2005
By J. Abel When it comes to baking, everyone needs good cookie receipes, and this book lives up to its ambitious name. The highlights are large photos of every cookie, easy to read recipes, basic ingredients, and an introduction discussing baking in general and how to avoid cookie pitfalls. All of the cookies I've made from this book have been spectacular, and the choices are endless. From regular cookies, to bars, to no-bakes to holiday selections, you will never lack for delicious treats and your friends will love you.
Go ahead, buy the cookie bible. On top of everything else, its as cheap as cookbooks come.
Enjoy

Great FunMay 04, 2006
By M. Falcon This was one of my first cookbooks and I love it. So far I've only been able to try a handful of recipes but the recipes are very easy to follow and I haven't been disappointed yet! There are great tips in the begining, such as what to substitute for certain ingredients (ex: pancake syrup for corn syrup) also has plenty of baking tips. The recipes are broken up into logical chapters (kid's favorites, pinwheels, drops, etc). Tons of full page color photos add a lot to the book as well!!!!

Great cookie cookbookDec 19, 2006
By blakdove This book gets its name for a reason!
There are hundreds of delicious-sounding cookie recipes in this book, including everything from no-bake bars to drop cookies to elaborately shaped cookies. A wide variety of ingredients are used. The recipes are clearly written, easy to follow, and wonderfully, inticingly illustrated. They are organized by type of cookie (drop, shaped, slice and bake, etc.), and there is a great, easy-to-use index in the back to help you find just the recipe you need.
There are also hints for making your cookies come out great, for storing and shipping, and packaging cookies for gift-giving.
Every recipe I've tried out of this book has been a huge hit!

Solid Cookie BibleMay 14, 2010
By M. Hill This book is full of basic cookie recipes along with unexpected new creations. As my cookbook shelf space shrinks I tend to look for books that will cover almost any eventuality in specific areas of interest. In many culinary areas, a recipe isn't a necessity, but for successful baking, recipes are a must. This book is one I reach for again and again and I've never had a batch failure from any of the concoctions in this book.
Some of the cookies have become favorites. The Malted Milk cookies are made with a rich chocolaty cookie dough that contains both malted milk powder and crushed malted milk balls. The Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake Bars have a really good crust made with oats, brown sugar, flour and butter. A layer of raspberry jam sits between the crust and a creamy cheesecake layer that has a touch of lemon zest and juice.
The Czech Bear Paws are cookies sophisticated enough for adults and whimsical enough for children. The chocolate cookie dough is spiced with nutmeg and cinnamon then baked in a Madeline tin. Once cooled, the wide end of the scalloped and ridged cookie is dipped in chocolate and broken almond slivers are pressed into the chocolate to form the claws. A favorite cookie for children is the Peanut Butter Bear which is simply a basic peanut butter cookie shaped into a little bear by pressing different sized balls of dough together. Miniature chocolate chips are used for eyes and belly button, and the result is adorable.
The book is full of good ideas along with delicious recipes. The hardback is sturdy and the paper heavy enough to permit spills to be quickly wiped up without damage. The book lays open by itself except at the very beginning and end of the book. Contained within the pages is plenty of guidance for the novice but the book is also perfect for the experienced baker. There are over 150 recipes and approximately 118 of them have a full page color photograph. This is a huge, reasonably priced cookbook that will provide many years of use.

SCRUMPTIOUS!Jan 21, 2008

This book is absolutely wonderful! The best part about it is the pictures of most of the cookies. I actually got one for a present for the Church secretary as a joke, but then I was looking through it and decided to get me one too. She & I both love it!
