Practical and deliciousJul 22, 2011
By Mr (and Mrs) Delish I much prefer this vegetarian cook book to any of the others I've purchased so far. Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone has a few useful recipes like broth and bread and good info on using vegetables, but most of the recipes take forever to make and really just don't taste that good. Not so with The Vegetarian Bible!
These recipes are a) easy b) delicious and c) fairly healthy. My kids and my husband love the food. The directions are easy to follow and there are hardly any that require "exotic" ingredients. Oh, and they're cheap to make too, which is great for a budget conscious mom like me.
The photography is beautiful too, it makes me want to make everything in this book! I love the way the chapters are organized as well and there is a nice broad sampling of salad, soup, grains, sandwiches, party fare, etc with many different types of cuisines - Asian, Mexican, American, Indian and more.
There is a section at the beginning about the different vegetarian ingredients and how to use them that I found informative and useful. Just bare-bones info with nice little pictures and what you need to know to cook vegetarian.
I really love this book and I hope these people make another one! I definitely recommend it for those just getting into vegetarian food and who don't want to spend 3 hours making something that your kids won't eat. Nothing fancy here, just good home cooking!
